The outstanding nature surrounding Sisimiut has a lot to offer during all four seasons.
As in the rest of Greenland the ocean is an important resource, and the area provides good conditions for fishing.
Sisimiut is also the right place for a whale safari.
Some of the nearby mountains are easily accessible (both ”Kællingehætten” as well as ”Præstefjeldet”).
The open valley behind the town is bordered by the small mountain Majoriaq, and in the middle of the valley you find the massif known as Alanngorsuaq. The Polar Trail between Sisimiut and Kangerlussuaq starts in the valley.
During Winter, the area provides good conditions for skiing, dog-sledge riding and snowmobile trips.
