About Aasiaat

The land of a thousand islands

The land of a thousand Islands provide kayakers and whale watchers with great opportunities.

Aasiaat is North Greenland's center for education, and the city's young people make the place livelier for every passing year. Small colorful houses welcome you when you arrive in Aasiaat with Safaq Ituq or with domestic aircraft, but it is especially the large collection of art around the city and the accommodating population that gives the city its warm tone.

Aasiaat may not have the country's most mountainous terrain, but instead it offers a boatload of sea-based experiences. Sailing, whale safaries, fishing and kayaking are central Greenlandic leisure activities. Your experiences are in good hands with the local guides of Aasiaat, for whom the maritime environment is a central part of everyday life.
